'Rugrats' Gets A New Animated Series & A *Gulp*

A baby's gotta do what a baby's gotta do… make profit

Well, it's been a long time coming. Back in 2015, Nickelodeon was mulling reviving some of their previously successful properties (besides Spongebob Squarepants). Nick did manage to bring back Hey Arnold!, Rocko's Modern Life, and Invader Zim TV movies, and their next step seems a little more ambitious even if it is baby steps. Yes, the pitter-patter of little feet you hear is Nick's plans for a revival of 1991's Rugrats.

Yes, Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Angelica, and Susie (no mention of Dill yet) will be returning both on the small and big screens. The new series will run for 26 episodes and will bring back the original creators/producers Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó, and Paul Germain as executive producers. Production has begun on the series, but a start date has yet to be announced.

The large screen adventure of these small tikes is planned for November 13, 2020. The movie is being described as "live-action feature film featuring CGI characters" and will be released by Paramount Players. David Goodman is scripting the film. Let's not make the CGI too realistic okay?

Hang on to your diapers, the Rugrats are returning soon.
