X-Men: Dark Phoenix's Tye Sheridan Says The Film Will Shake Up The Superhero Genre

Surely, Simon Kinberg, the writer of the past three X-Men films can do that.

Actor Tye Sheridan is having a good year as Ready Player One opened recently to the joy of everyone who loved VH1's I Love The '80s and X-Men: Dark Phoenix was pushed from November 2, 2018 to February 14, 2019, letting him ride out the fame and fortune of RPO before being dragged back down to being Cyclops

In an interview promoting RPO, Sheridan was asked about the tone of Dark Phoenix because since Logan the X-Men films are all about tone, with this film feeling less like a superhero movie.

Everyone was on the same page with the idea that we were approaching it as much more of a grounded drama versus a superhero movie.

Sheridan also gave Marvel a backhanded compliment which is a bold move for someone contracted to the studio.

Something that's getting old with those universes and all the Marvel movies is that they all look the same and they're all doing the same thing. We really wanted to shake it up, in that sense, and take a different approach to this. Simon Kinberg, who wrote the past three X-Men, directed Dark Phoenix, and I'm super, super excited about it. I think it will turn out well and that it will be a different X-Men than we've ever seen before, so that's exciting.

X-Men: The Last Stand is still fresh in our memories, so it'll take a great Phoenix film to wipe that one away.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to release February 14, 2019 unless it's delayed again which is inevitable.
