A new  Star Wars trilogy is not the only new Star Wars fans can expect in the future. Yes, we know know that Star Wars has been planning for the next decade of stories, but now we can add a new live-action show to those plans. There was talk about a live-action Star Wars television show from a long time ago, but with a new Disney streaming service on the horizon, it seems those plans may (or may not) be getting dusted off.

It's not to say that there hasn't been Star Wars on the smaller screen before. However, those efforts (eg. Ewoks, Droids, Clone Wars) were all animated. There was that one Holiday Special, but we don't need to talk too much about that, and that wasn't a series.

Lucasfilm isn't the only Disney sub-company that plans for the future. Marvel also does this, and has plans for its Cinematic Universe going into the future. Well, Marvel too will have a new show on the service, being described as an "original" entry (meaning not Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Inhumans).

This news, along with the news that Disney•Pixar's Monsters Inc. and the Disney Channel's High School Musical will also have entries on the new service came from the mouth of Disney CEO Bob Iger himself during the company's quarterly earnings call. In addition to those announcements, Iger also said that four or five original movies a year will debut on the service. He also the channel will not have "traditional" advertising aka. commercials and will be available "substantially below" Netflix's monthly prices. Iger admits that the price point is because the service will have less content than Netflix and the "price will reflect that." He also said:

"Our goal is to attract as many subs as possible starting out."

Sounds like prices could go up in the future. No launch date was announced for the streaming service, but it is largely expected to debut by the end of 2019. In the meantime, you can get your TV Star Wars fix with the final season of Star Wara Rebels we guess…
